How to get your Upwork profile approved

But in 2019, joining Upwork as a freelancer is not that easy. There is an exceptional increase in the number of freelancers joining Upwork in last few years. Considering this factor and to maintain the quality of work, Upwork has tightened the criteria for approving the Upwork profiles of newbies.
To get our Upwork account approved, we need to create our Upwork profile differently. Create a professional looking Email:

A professional email ID shows you are more serious about your career.

Choose a Professional and better job title:
Try to choose a job Title which explains your expertise in a single sentence. It should not be too specific. Rather it must showcase all your skills. But again it should not be too vague. Keep your job title short and descriptive.

Choose a friendly and professional photo:
Choosing a friendly and professional photo will help you to get quick jobs. Clients feel more satisfactory with your professional looking photograph. Always put a real picture of you. Make sure your photo has proper lights and focused on your face. And it do not have a distracting background.
Give an outstanding Review of yourself:
Over view is the first thing which appears on freelancer profile. Write a powerful overview of yourself.
Freelancers mostly miss this point, writing a detailed overview for their selves. This might help a lot in getting your up work account approved. Write each and every thing in detail. What skills you have, how you can utilize them in your work, what is your way of working, and everything you want to tell your Client. This separates serious freelancers from those who are just time wasters.
Select a unique and in demand skill set:
Selecting a skillset which is not common increases the chances of your profile get approved by 50 %. You can change it latter in your settings.
Some most in demand skills are: Equity research, Social Customer Service, IPhone UI Design etc.
On Upwork, you are allowed to choose 10 subcategories. Choose all 10 subcategories to become searchable for clients.
Apart from that, Upwork also allows to add up 10 skills of you. Add most relevant Upwork skills. Start from writing the skill you are best in and then write other ones. It is suggested to use skills which are in demand. Some of them are:

Remember you can always change that once your profile is approved.
Enhance your profile by adding portfolio and projects:
Share your previous work through your portfolio. Don’t do this in a hurry; take time. Share all details regarding your previous project. Add relevant skills that you have used in that particular project.
If you are a starter and haven’t build a portfolio of your work, build it first. This will show case your expertise and an account with a good portfolio have more chances of approval.
Do not forget to add education and certificates:
List your institution name and program description in chronological order, and start with most recent one. Add all of your previous institutions.
Adding education certificates shows you as genuine and authentic freelancer. Do not forget to add your certificates. It deeply impacts your profile outlook.
If you have taken any online course, add them too.
Show casing Relevant Experience on Upwork:
If you had previously worked on projects either online or offline, add it to your profile. This will help you in building your profile authenticity. Highlight your best experience first, and don’t hesitate to show your work.
Having some previous and related experience will give a positive impact of your profile.
Don’t miss on the past employment:
Most of us had worked in some government or private organization. Take advantage of that and write it on your profile. Describe in detail what duties you have performed their and how it will add quality to your work on Upwork.
Even if you have some internship or training experience, add it too.

Link your social media accounts with your Upwork account:

All good things need time. Be patient with your effort. You may get rejected once but may be next time you get approved instantly. So believe in yourself and continue trying for your Upwork account get approved.
